Her charity organization collects blue hats to distribute to children in October, Anti-Bullying Month, at school assemblies designed to help children talk about and shut down bullying.
Here’s how it’s going to work:
Knit any hat pattern you want, as long at it’s at least 75% blue.
Hats should be 16 – 20 inches in circumference.
Post photos of your hats to Instagram using the hashtag #hatnothate and #ithoughtiknewhow by May 31 to qualify for prizes.
Not on Instagram? Post photos in the I Thought I Knew How groups on Facebook or MeWe.
Get your hats sent in. They need to be delivered to a drop-off location asap or mailed so they arrive by August 1, 2021. Check the FAQ on Hat Not Hate’s website for updated information on drop off locations and their mailing address.
Listen to episode 57 of the podcast coming on Monday, May 10, 2021. You will find a coupon code for 10% off Morehouse Farm 3-strand worsted solid color yarn with free domestic shipping or $12 flat rate international shipping as well as yarn support from Knit New Haven available to those who walk in to claim the yarn or are willing to pay postage, while supplies last.
International listeners, you are welcome to participate, too. You can knit for Hat Not Hate according to the guidelines above, or choose a charity local to you that could use hats. Make your posts in the same places. On Instagram, use the hashtag for your chosen charity along with #ithoughtiknewhow.
On June 1, 2021, I will choose two prize winners:
- A US-based winner will receive an assortment of $50 of Lion Brand natural fiber yarns.
- A non-US-based winner will receive a pdf copy of Top 24 Morehouse Tops to Cover Young and Old, a fantastic collection of hat patterns from Morehouse Farm.
It would be great to win, but really we all benefit from a world that’s a little kinder. Let’s do our bit together!
